Iyengar Yoga: the 90-second preparation

Precision and stillness define Iyengar practice — and the breath reflects this.

1 · Arrive — 30 seconds

Breathe with Winona using the Iyengar Yoga pattern: Inhale 5s · hold 5s · exhale 7s · hold 3s. The coach video and the music follow every inhale and exhale, so you do not have to count.

2 · Rehearse — 45 seconds

  1. Picture iyengar yoga. Feel your feet on the ground and your spine long.
  2. Scan from head to toes. Wherever there is tension, exhale into it.
  3. See your body moving with ease and good form.
  4. If discomfort shows up, you breathe and adjust — no force.
  5. See yourself afterwards: lighter, warmer, more awake.

3 · Anchor — 15 seconds

Roll your shoulders back once. Say quietly: “Light.” In the real moment, repeat the gesture and one long exhale to recall the prepared state.

Afterwards — the check-in

AHΞHA asks you later how it went: worse, as expected, or better. Your answers build your personal proof record.

Why mental rehearsal

Athletes, surgeons and musicians have used imagery for decades: vividly imagining an action engages many of the same brain networks as doing it, and slow exhales shift the body toward its calming (parasympathetic) branch. AHΞHA packs both into one short, repeatable ritual. It is a preparation tool, not a medical treatment.
