Phone Addiction: the 90-second preparation
Every time you reach for the phone out of habit, this pattern is the redirect.
1 · Arrive — 30 seconds
Breathe with Sport using the Phone Addiction pattern: Inhale 4s · hold 4s · exhale 6s · hold 2s. The coach video and the music follow every inhale and exhale, so you do not have to count.
2 · Rehearse — 45 seconds
- Picture the moment phone addiction usually shows up. The place, the time, the trigger.
- Feel the urge rise like a wave. Watch it — you do not have to obey it.
- Breathe out slowly. See the wave peak… and begin to fall.
- See yourself doing your replacement: water, a short walk, a message to a friend.
- See yourself ten minutes later, glad you let the wave pass.
3 · Anchor — 15 seconds
Take one slow sip of water. Say quietly: “Pass.” In the real moment, repeat the gesture and one long exhale to recall the prepared state.
Afterwards — the check-in
AHΞHA asks you later how it went: worse, as expected, or better. Your answers build your personal proof record.
Why mental rehearsal
Athletes, surgeons and musicians have used imagery for decades: vividly imagining an action engages many of the same brain networks as doing it, and slow exhales shift the body toward its calming (parasympathetic) branch. AHΞHA packs both into one short, repeatable ritual. It is a preparation tool, not a medical treatment.
