\Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) recent business activity reveals expansions and other developments in their shipbuilding sector. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to explore joint shipbuilding opportunities. HII installed the first additively manufactured valve manifold assembly on an aircraft carrier at Newport News Shipbuilding and later named Kari Wilkinson to lead this shipbuilding operation. Furthermore, HII opened a new virtual reality welding lab at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
\The company reported revenue increase in Q2 2024 and achieved a $48.5B backlog at the quarter's end. However, they trimmed their financial outlook for 2024 due to contract delays and supply chain issues. Besides, HII sold more than 700 REMUS uncrewed underwater vehicles and was awarded a $1.3 billion contract for the detail design and construction of LPD 32.
\On the leadership front, HII appointed several new vice presidents and a director of diversity and inclusion. Finally, HII secured a spot on the U.S. Army Live Training Solutions Contract and obtained approval to acquire Alion Science and Technology to enhance its national security solutions portfolio.\
