International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has had mixed results in a year, with a great
54% gain for investors, however, recent
stock underperformance when compared with competitors. Issues have included European Union
fines related to fragrance cartels, and a
decrease in dividends. Despite issues,
short sellers are buying the stock, with leading shareholder
Carl Ichan choosing IFF among his top stock picks. Despite
difficulties in valuation, Oppenheimer has raised the company's stock target, bolstering some investor confidence.
Institutional owners still favour IFF, with an 87% hold on the company. Although the
dividend is reducing, potential growth is shown as IFF plans to open a
Flavor & Fragrance Innovation Centre and
beating Q2 earnings and Revenue Estimates. Even though stock performance has been rocky, the high
performance during Q2 and the new CEO appointment work in IFF favour. Yet, certain ag business' future remains
uncertain due to a dryer fire.
