Universal Health Services (UHS) announced its 2025 annual meeting results and strong Q1 2025 results translating into potential healthy upside for the company. However, several controversies have surfaced including being slammed by U.S Senate for alleged abuses at N.C. psychiatric hospital and facing a $535M judgment against a subsidiary. Multiple lawsuits have been filed by former patients and staff, further denting its reputation. Former CEO Alan B. Miller stepped down in 2021 and continued as the Executive Chairman. Prior to that, the company suffered a crippling ransomware attack across the U.S. causing a $67M loss. Despite these adversities, UHS continues to expand with groundbreaking for new medical centers in D.C and Palm Beach Gardens alongside an ERISA $12.5M class action settlement. It aims to bounce back with new leadership under CEO Marc D. Miller.
