Waste Management (WM) faces various changes, including a
service suspension in Sanibel and trash accumulation in Duluth due to
service delays. However, it is targeting to boost Colorado recycling with a $100 million Denver East sorting center. In the financial sector, WM has shown
Earnings Per Share growth, making it an interesting consideration for investors. The acquisition of
Stericycle in a $7.2B deal and the potential $3 billion sale of its renewable natural gas unit are significant. The purchase of Stericycle, a leader in medical waste services, will consolidate WM's foothold in the medical waste management industry. There seem to be some concerns regarding WM's debt though it is heavily backed by institutional owners. Also, it recently announced a
second quarter earnings meet, the acquisition of Winters Bros. Waste Systems, and - despite a few market hiccups - the steady rise of its stock. Despite some stock dips and misses in quarterly earnings, their growth strategies seem to be paying off, and the acquisition of Hometown Haulers and the award from the First Elected Latina U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto indicate positive public perception.
