The group's U.S. Treasury complex set a record with 34 million contracts, while its international average daily volume also reached a quarterly record of 7.4 million contracts in Q1 2024; a substantial increase from the previous record in 2023 with 6.8 million contracts. In February 2024, CME Group reported an average daily volume (ADV) of 29.6 Million contracts and a record January ADV of 25.2 Million contracts. Micro E-mini futures and options also generated interest.
In addition, it announced the launch of new micro Euro-denominated Bitcoin and Ether futures on March 18. An expansion of its gold, silver, and copper short-term options expiries is also in the pipeline, enhancing its stance in the metals market. Other developments include the launch of a unified global NDF trading venue and the extension of the employment agreement for Chairman and CEO Terry Duffy through 2025.
