Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, plans to relocate from Delaware to Texas, citing Texas's business-friendly rules as a key factor. Liz Martin, a former Goldman Sachs partner, will lead Coinbase's global expansion. While the company had planned to acquire stablecoin startup BVNK for $2 billion, this deal is no longer moving forward.
Coinbase has also been engaged in various ventures, including a partnership with Citi to improve digital payments and the announcement of a new platform for early access to digital tokens. Furthermore, Coinbase has joined with tech giant Samsung to bring crypto access to more than 75 million Galaxy users worldwide.
There was also mention of a coin-based credit card under the Coinbase brand, and a collaboration with Cloudflare to establish the x402 Foundation for agentic commerce. Lastly, Coinbase's CEO, Brian Armstrong, reportedly sold $8M in shares following the entity's shift to the S&P 500.
