Significant focus has been directed towards Equity Residential (EQR), an American real estate investment trust heavily invested in apartments. The company recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of being listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). EQR saw an increase in investment from U.S. Capital Wealth Advisors LLC, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Natixis, Amundi, First Trust Advisors LP, Arrowstreet Capital Limited Partnership, and Daiwa Securities Group Inc., despite the share stabilization.
New investments were also made by the Investment Management Corp of Ontario, while Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and Rhumbline Advisers boosted their holdings. On the other hand, Squarepoint Ops LLC, Korea Investment CORP, and Hsbc Holdings PLC decreased their stake in EQR. An optimism towards EQR is due to recent acquisitions of eight Atlanta-area apartment properties for $535 million, implementing low-cost efficiency measures at scale, securing a new $2.5 billion credit agreement, and achieving its strong Q2 sales, and income statistics. Nevertheless, with uncertainties in LA and DC and a slight decrease in Q2 leasing, investors are suggested to observe EQR judiciously.
