General Motors (GM) has been demonstrating a mix of performance trends, particularly with respect to its
Electric Vehicle (EV) advances and various other aspects of operations. The company had previously led the Chinese market but has since declined to 16th place in sales. The
autonomous vehicle sector saw GM pulling the plug on its Cruise robotaxi dreams due to scaling challenges and high costs, shifting its focus instead to personal autonomous vehicles. Nonetheless, the company is piquing investor interest due to strong financials and record sales, even achieving a 49% shareholder return over the past year.
GM Financial is set to release its Q4 and annual results for 2024, with signals of resilience in consumer behavior and a Q3 profit of $3 billion. A potential partnership with
Hyundai on EVs and clean energy tech is also in discussions. Meanwhile, incorporating ultra-fast charging ports at key locations in partnership with ChargePoint and investments in Forge Nano for enhanced battery technology reflects GM's continuous effort in EV market growth. However, GM forecasts an expected $5 billion financial hit from losses in the Chinese market. Despite these challenges, Street Analysts are still bullish about GM’s significantly undervalued stock.
