Eversource Energy (ES) has experienced a
varying performance over the recent period, causing some analysts to question its performance. Undervalued by some, ES has been recognized as one of the
last discounted regulated utilities. Although its recent
ROE of 5.4% raised concerns, the energy company proves to be showing resilience against unfavorable market conditions. Their continuous
strategic investments and consistent
dividend increases have pegged them as a potential
'dividend aristocrat'.
Despite some losses in the past three years, institutional investors who control 84% of ES saw rewards with a
3.6% increase in the stock. The company announced successful Q3 and Q4 results, beside a 5.2% dividend hike. A
$2.4B Water Division Sale has reshaped the New England Utilities Landscape and they have started construction on the Greater Cambridge Energy Program. Nevertheless, the company faces regulatory hurdles and a
debt load, which poses challenges to its otherwise solid performance.
